HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Washington County Department of Planning and Zoning would like to remind citizens of upcoming Comprehensive Plan public meetings.
All meetings to solicit public feedback regarding growth, development and agricultural land preservation will be held on the following dates:
August 24, 2015, 7 p.m. at the Boonsboro Community Center, 21 North Main Street
September 10, 2015, 6:30 p.m. at the Hagerstown Library, 100 South Potomac Street
Each meeting will include a public comment session allowing Washington County residents the chance to provide feedback to the Planning Commission. Citizen input is critical to accurately predict future growth patterns and resource needs.
Planning Commission members aid residents, businesses and property owners in implementing a vision for how our community should look and function in the future. Once drafted, the Comprehensive Plan recommendations are presented to the County Commissioners for adoption to inform future land use decisions.
If you are unable to attend a meeting, please share your feedback and review Comprehensive Plan updates at: www.washco-md.net/comp_plan
About the Washington County Comprehensive Plan
The Comprehensive Plan is a document developed by the Planning Commission and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners after extensive citizen input. It contains long term goals, guidance and recommendations relating to land development and preservation policies for a 20-year horizon period. The Plan is developed by assessing current community conditions and resource; projecting future growth and needs of the community; evaluating the impacts of future growth on community resources; and developing strategies to manage new growth in an efficient and responsible manner.
